Vishnu Manchu revealed why he chose Mukesh Kumar Singh, a Bollywood filmmaker, for a Telugu project. He said, "No director from Tollywood would be willing to work with me if I approached them with 'Kannappa' script...My last few films didn't perform well." He added, "He's [Mukesh] a hidden gem, and I want to bring such talent to the forefront."
