OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said it's "totally hopeless" for an Indian startup to try to build a foundational model like ChatGPT. Responding to a question by the MD of PeakXV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India), Rajan Anandan, Altman said, "We're going to tell you, it's totally hopeless to compete with us on training foundation model...and it's your job to...try anyway."
