Tourist captures rare rainbow cloud phenomenon

Missouri-based Beckie Bone Dunning captured the rare phenomenon of a rainbow cloud while on a trip to Jamaica last week. Responding to the 62-year-old’s Facebook post, the Weather Channel's senior meteorologist explained, "In clouds, iridescence is a by-product of sunlight being diffracted by water droplets or ice crystals, causing the various wavelengths of light to emerge at different angles.”
