Around 8 crore traders in India suffered a cumulative business loss worth ₹6.25 lakh crore in April due to COVID-19 restrictions, according to traders' body CAIT. Retail businesses suffered a loss of ₹4.25 lakh crore, while wholesale businesses lost around ₹2 lakh crore, it said. "The cumulative revenue loss to the government stands at about ₹75,000 crore," CAIT added.
