TRAI has reduced the waiting period for a swapped or replaced SIM card to be eligible for mobile number porting from 10 days to 7 days. The waiting period aims to curb SIM swap scams. TRAI earlier said the waiting period should neither be too small that it fails to prevent fraudulent porting nor too long to inconvenience the subscribers.
