The Jharkhand government on Wednesday announced that transgender individuals will be given OBC status and officially recognised as the third gender, aligning with the 2014 Supreme Court ruling. They will also be given a monthly social security pension of ₹1,000. CM Hemant Soren said the move aims to ensure equal rights and respect for all citizens in the state.
