US House Representative Elise Stefanik, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has announced her run for New York Governor against Kathy Hochul. If she wins in 2026, she could use gubernatorial powers to remove newly elected NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whom she called an "Antisemite, Jihadist, Communist", as per reports. Mamdani is elected as NYC’s first South Asian Mayor.
