US President Donald Trump blacklisted Anthropic and ordered federal agencies to stop using its technology over refusal to allow use of Anthropic for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. Trump said there would be a six-month phaseout for Department of War and other agencies, and asked Anthropic to be helpful or face consequences. Trump called it an "out-of-control, radical Left company".
