Turkiye to 3x its defence spending in 3 years, build its own tech

Turkiye has announced plans to increase its defence spending by 229%, more than triple, in three years amid rising regional tensions. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said the aim was to develop domestic technologies and produce higher-value defence products. The change comes after frustration with dependency on Western allies who have sometimes proved unreliable, experts said.
