Twitter announced that it is acquiring Scroll which allows users to subscribe and read news articles from publishers without ads. It said publishers who work with Scroll "can bring in more revenue than they would from traditional ads on a page". Twitter plans to include Scroll as part of an upcoming subscription offering it's currently exploring.
