The UK has reported two confirmed cases of Lassa fever and a third "probable" case. It's the first time since 2009 that cases of Lassa fever, an acute viral hemorrhagic illness, have been identified in the UK. People usually become infected with Lassa virus through exposure to food or household items contaminated with urine or faeces of infected rats.
