A digital token named Internet Computer, which was launched on Monday, has already hit a market value of over $45 billion. It is the eighth-largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalisation, according to CoinMarketCap. The underlying network of the virtual currency, founded by DFINITY's Dominic Williams, uses smart contracts, or software programmes that execute tasks, like Ethereum.
