Uber reportedly reduced the number of sensors, used to detect objects on the road, on its self-driving cars when it shifted from Ford Fusion sedans to the Volvo SUVs. The new vehicles feature one roof-mounted LIDAR sensor compared with seven units on the older Ford Fusion models. This comes after Uber's self-driving car killed a woman in the US.
