The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced discontinuing the non-National Eligibility Test fellowship for research students at central universities in India from the next academic year. The fellowship used to provide an assistance of Rs 5,000 to MPhil students and Rs 8,000 to PhD students. However, the students currently enrolled in the fellowship will continue to get the aid.
