A UK court upheld a £40,000 fine against Labour councillor Hina Mir for illegally hiring Indian student Himanshi Gongley as a full-time nanny. Gongley, who was in the UK illegally, later alleged abuse and long working hours. The court found inconsistencies in Mir’s defence. With her appeal dismissed, she must also pay £3,620 in court costs.
