UK's new PM to cut tax on electricity bills

Newly elected UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has directed a cut in household electricity bills by scrapping value-added tax (VAT) on domestic power. From October 1, UK government will remove the 5% VAT on household electricity bills, saving a household around £45 a year. Burnham also scrapped digital ID scheme for government employees which would help fund electricity tax cut.
