UK skies witness annual Geminids meteor shower

The UK saw the peak of this year’s Geminids meteor shower on Sunday night through Monday morning. The shower is an annual phenomenon and takes place when the Earth’s orbit coincides with that of the 3200 Phaethon asteroid. The meteors are visible to the naked eye and are named so because they appear to be coming from the Gemini constellation.
