Published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, a UK trial compared three weight loss surgeries. Gastric bypass led to the most weight loss and better quality of life, followed by sleeve gastrectomy. Adjustable gastric banding was least effective. Bypass also proved most cost-effective for the NHS.
