Umaid Singh: First Indian maharaja to get a flying licence

Umaid Singh (1903), the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jodhpur had a passion for flying. He is credited with the emergence of aviation in Jodhpur, having risen to the throne at the age of fifteen in 1918. He was the first Indian prince to get a Level 'A' Flying Licence. He graduated from Royal Air Force Academy at Cranwell.
