An amygdala hijack is when the brain's emotional centre overrides rational thinking, triggering an intense, impulsive reaction to a perceived threat. Dr Sarthak Dave explains that Amygdala activates the fight-or-flight response before the frontal lobes can assess the situation. While useful in real danger, this response can be inappropriate when the threat is minor or imagined, leading to regret.
