India's unemployment rate stood at 5.6% in June, unchanged from May, as per the Statistics Ministry. However, data shows a change in the overall unemployment rate in both rural and urban areas. In rural areas, unemployment fell by 20 basis points to 4.9%, while urban unemployment rose by 20 basis points to 7.1% (One basis point = 0.01 percentage point).
