The Union Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY), a major push for renewable energy that will add 5 GW of floating solar capacity and 10 GWh of battery storage. The ₹5,070 crore scheme is expected to leverage ₹28,500 crore in investments, helping unlock India's 102 GW floating solar potential and strengthen long-term energy security.
