Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu appeared before the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes and tendered an unconditional apology in connection with alleged casteist remarks. After accepting the apology, the commission asked Bittu to pay obeisance and perform seva at four holy sites in Punjab. Bittu allegedly used objectionable language during a confrontation with police personnel in May.
