Unprecedented rain leaves 7,000 stranded at Tokyo airport

At least 7,000 people were stranded at Tokyo’s Narita Airport after unprecedented rainfall swept through Japan. More than 360 mm (14 inches) of rain fell within 24 hours in parts of Chiba, adjoining Tokyo, inundating roads and railways. The rains cut power to over 20,000 households in Chiba prefecture and at least eight people were killed due to flash floods.
