In a directive issued in view of COVID-19 ahead of Bakrid, the UP government has banned animal sacrifice in public places and has also prohibited gatherings of over 50 people. Only designated places or private premises should be used for animal sacrifices, a government spokesperson said. Cows, camels or any other 'banned animals' cannot be sacrificed during the festival.
