UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has increased electricity rates in Uttar Pradesh for the first time in five years. UPPCL stated the consumers will pay 1.24% more on bills in April as January's fuel surcharge will be recovered from them in April. Reacting to it, UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad Chairman Awadhesh Verma said there's no justification for raising charges.
