UP man eats grass, animal fodder during Nag Panchami ritual

A 70-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Rudlapur village drew crowds during a Nag Panchami ritual after he was seen eating grass, straw and animal fodder. Villagers claimed Buddhiram was "possessed" by Mahishasura. The ritual, reportedly held every three years since 1975, also saw devotees feed him bananas and laddus while seeking blessings and fulfilled wishes from the unusual ceremony.
