Santosh Maurya, younger brother of BJP district vice-president Dr. Pradeep Maurya, was shot dead on Saturday morning. After arresting Devendra Jaiswal, police began verifying the license of the firearm used. The double-barrel gun may be registered under Jaiswal or his father. Chandauli SP Aditya Langeh confirmed an FIR has been filed and post-mortem ordered.
