Uttar Pradesh has emerged as India's largest petrol consumer in 2024-25, surpassing Maharashtra, according to PPAC data. The shift reflects changing mobility trends, growing vehicle ownership and expanding urbanisation. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat also ranked among the top fuel-consuming states, followed by Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala.
