The Uttar Pradesh government is reportedly drafting a hi-tech plan to identify, profile and deport illegal immigrants. The proposal includes facial recognition, fingerprint mapping, advanced document scanning and a nationwide ‘negative list’ to prevent re-entry. The state also plans stricter checks on forged IDs and enhanced security mechanisms for detention centres housing illegal immigrants.
