UP: Sellers of loose cigarettes face prison term

Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday outlawed the sale of loose cigarettes. First-time offenders in the state will have to pay ₹1,000 and face one year imprisonment, whereas repeat offenders will have to pay a fine of ₹3,000 and face three years imprisonment. Manufacturers of loose cigarettes will have to pay ₹10,000 and face five years imprisonment.
