The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a holiday on November 28 to mark the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas. Guru Tegh Bahadur, who is the ninth Sikh Guru, was born in Amritsar in 1621 and was martyred under the rule of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1675. Guru Tegh Bahadur is also popularly known as 'Hind di Chaddar'.
