NPCI is developing UPI 3.0, an IoT-enabled upgrade that will allow automated payments through smart devices. Using internet-connected sensors and software, devices like fridges, TVs, cars, washing machines and smartwatches will be able to make payments without human intervention. The system will also let users automate recurring expenses, such as monthly subscriptions, directly from smart devices.
