UPI users cross 55 crore as FY26 transactions hit ₹314 lakh crore
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) had 55.49 crore users as of June 2026. UPI transactions totalled ₹314.23 lakh crore in FY26, up from ₹260.56 lakh crore in FY25. Introduced in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) under the central bank's supervision, UPI is India's real-time digital payments system.
