The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) wouldn't have been possible if the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had not built the product out of Mumbai, NPCI CEO Dilip Asbe said. "I remember it was like an evolution...Everything that followed including compliance and legal services requirements was rightly available [in Mumbai]," he added.
