Urad dal prices may rise in India over delayed monsoon: Report

Delayed monsoon has reduced area sown with urad dal (black gram) by 40% and may lead to higher imports and pushing up retail prices, CNBC-TV18 reported, citing government data. Farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan are reportedly shifting to soybean, maize, and coarse grains. Urad dal's minimum support price has risen to ₹8,200 per quintal from ₹6,600 in 2022.
