US adds 162,000 jobs in August, beats estimates
The US labour market added 162,000 non-farm payroll jobs in August, far exceeding the 12-month average of 31,000, with unemployment steady at 4.1%. Food services led gains with 59,000 jobs, followed by local government education and manufacturing. The information sector shed 23,000 jobs. June and July figures were revised up by a combined 55,000.
