US calls failed trade deal a ‘missed opportunity’ for Canada

After US and Canada failed to reach a trade deal, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer called it a “missed opportunity for Canada to partner with US, the fastest-growing economy in the G7.” Greer said the US had offered significant tariff reductions on steel, aluminium, autos and lumber. Canada will now face 50% tariffs on around $20 billion worth of goods.
