Canadian PM Mark Carney said the Gordie Howe Bridge connecting Canada and US, which US President Donald Trump had threatened to block, is set to open this week. The bridge was built at cost of $4.7 billion. In February 2026, Trump said Canada had used “virtually” no US products and threatened to stop its opening unless US was fairly compensated.
