US government has cancelled a contract awarded to Moderna for the late-stage development of its pandemic influenza vaccine for humans, as well as the right to purchase shots, the drugmaker announced. Department of Health and Human Services has slashed $766-million funding allocated to Moderna. Moderna now plans to explore alternatives for late-stage development and manufacturing of the vaccine.
