The COVID-19 pandemic-led recession in the US lasted only for two months and ended in April 2020, making it the shortest on record, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research. The recession had ended the country's record 128-month economic expansion, which began in 2009. The US economy contracted at a record 31.4% in the second quarter of 2020.
