The US FCC has officially designated Chinese firms Huawei and ZTE as national security threats to America's communications networks. "Both Huawei and ZTE have close ties to the Chinese Communist Party and China's military apparatus," the FCC said. Moreover, the money from FCC's $8.3 billion a year fund will not be used towards any transactions with the two firms.
