US-based financial technology company Affirm has laid off 19% of its workforce, reportedly affecting about 500 employees. "Growing rapidly over the last few years...we consciously hired ahead of the revenue required to support the size of the team," CEO Max Levchin said on Wednesday. Shares of the company dipped about 18% in extended trading following the announcement.
