Chinese diplomat Wang Yi said the "excessive use of force" by the US over a suspected Chinese spy balloon has damaged relations between the two countries. "Such an unthinkable and hysterical action...clearly violates common practice and relevant international law," Wang added. The US military shot down the balloon off the coast of South Carolina earlier this month.
