US-India satellite captures time-lapse video of volcanic eruption in Russia

NASA has shared a time-lapse video of the volcanic eruption from the northern crater of Krasheninnikov, a pair of volcanoes on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. Captured by the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR), the video shows lava spreading from December 2025 to August 2026. A magnitude-8.8 earthquake struck the nearby ocean on July 30, 2025, apparently jolting the northern volcano awake.
