US inflation sees biggest monthly jump in 4 years as Iran war lifts oil prices

The US Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.9% month-on-month in March, marking its biggest increase in nearly four years. Compared to the year-ago period, inflation stood at 3.3%, the fastest pace since 2024. The surge was driven by a sharp rise in gasoline and diesel prices, as the Iran war triggered a spike in global oil costs.
