American Intelligence agency CIA believed, as far back in 1948, that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died in an aeroplane​ crash at Taipei in August 1945. A 1956 investigation report by the Japanese government had also concluded that Bose died of injuries sustained in the air crash, on August 18, 1945, three days after Japan formally surrendered in World War II.
