US judge rules Trump administration's use of voter data unlawful
A US federal judge has ruled that the Justice Department's policy of collecting unredacted state voter rolls and cross-checking them with immigration records is unlawful. Judge Sparkle Sooknanan said it violated federal privacy laws and risked disenfranchising eligible voters. She also said Congress had entrusted states with maintaining voter registration lists, not the federal government.
