US' Treasury Department lifted counter-terrorism sanctions from Iraq's Fly Baghdad Airlines and two aircraft which were imposed over their links to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. However, the airline's owner Basheer Abdulkadhim Alwan al-Shabbani is still under sanctions. The sanctions removal comes amid talks between US and Iran to secure a deal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
