US planning to end work permits for spouses of H-1B visa holders, Indians to be hit hardest

The US government could end work permits for spouses of H-1B visa holders, potentially affecting thousands of H-4 visa holders. Indians could be hit hardest, as 93% of H-4 EAD approvals from 2014-2017 went to Indian nationals, 94% of them women. However, this is only a proposal, not a final rule, and it does not end H-4 work authorisation immediately.
